Marine Current Turbines (MCT) model tests

The Wolfson Unit has recently conducted tests for Marine Current Turbines (MCT) to determine the wave and current loading on the 'Seagen 2MW' turbine. Loadings were determines for a variety of positions when the power train, rotors and cross beam were positioned in the splash zone between the operating and maintenance positions. Forces and moments were measured in 6 axes enabling centres of pressure to be determined.
