WUMTIA joins E-Lass network

The Wolfson Unit takes part in the European network E-Lass which aims to promote the application of composite materials in the maritime industry, enable the exchange of information and knowledge and initiate collaborations between industry, research and academia. The network is coordinated by SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden. It currently consists of 138 organizations from 24 countries.

Wolfson Unit engineers have a track record in the structural analysis of marine craft. Past and ongoing projects include investigations on structural failures, structural plan reviews and structural monitoring via bespoke onboard systems such as LyDams. Also, with access to the University of Southampton's supercomputers, Iridis 4 and  Iridis 3 as well as experience in many different FEA codes, the Wolfson Unit has a huge range in capabilities to undertake computational modelling.
