17 Aug 2016The Wolfson Unit congratulate the Great Britain Olympic Cycling Team on their success at the Rio Olympics, gaining 11 medals across the 10 track cycling disciplines, and 12 medals including the road racing events.

07 Jul 2016The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has now published its report into the capsize and sinking of the fishing vessel JMT with the loss of two lives. The accident occurred off Rame Head, near Plymouth on 9th July 2015 whilst the 11.4 metre JMT was operating in benign weather conditions and in daylight.

21 Apr 2016The Wolfson Unit's use of the supercomputing facilties available at the University of Southampton, and particular how we have produced a turn key system for North Sails, has been highlighted recently by the Science & Engineering South (SES) consortium.

22 Mar 2016Much headway has been made at the University of Southampton with the outfitting of the new 138 metre ship model basin. The tank has now been filled to its working level and is being equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which will enable ship testing and experimental work for the aerospace, energy and transportation sectors.
